Radioactive Spiders and Kryptonite
I think I forgot to breathe
FULL NAME: mary alice brandon cullen NICKNAMES: alice, pixie, that freakishly small annoying one AGE: that would be a few hundred years, but let's say she's eighteen, shall we? BIRTHDAY: an extremely long time ago SEXUALIY: straight JOB: masquerading a a senior in high school and constantly keeping the cullens' numerous bathrooms stocked with various supplies. SPECIES: vampire ftw CANON: heck yes even
I’m nothing but a human, after all. Nothing special.
GENERAL APPEARANCE: pixie. that's the term they all use to describe Alice. it fits, considering her diminutive height of four foot eleven and her voice, which even for a vampire is rather high pitched and gets annoying fast. it also describes her hair rather well, that black growth that sticks out of her head at random angles and is best described as "spiky", though that's not really the proper term for it. it defies definition, it really has a life of its own. and her eyes. they're usually a clear golden brown, which is a product of her vegetarian diet. being a vampire, that means she does in fact eat animals. it's human blood she refrains from consuming, which is often harder than it sounds considering her basic nature. however, she manages successfully with the rest of her clan.
her skin is often described as marble. that's because it's extremely hard. running into Alice is like running into concrete, or a brick wall. it's also very pale. vampires don't tan. in fact, they sparkle in the sun, and that's prohibitive to the whole tanning process. because of her deep black hair, her skin looks even lighter than usual. it also contrasts interestingly with the chronic dark marks under her eyes that are too pretty to look like the ones regular humans get when they don't sleep well. they're a deep, gorgeous shade of violet and set her golden eyes apart from the rest of her beautiful face, which is defined by sharp yet curving cheekbones and a high forehead. her lips are thin and pale like the rest of her face.
the rest of her body is slender and quick. her legs are thin and her hips curve nicely and look great in size one american eagle jeans. her arms are particularly slender but surprisingly strong. there's a reason she's the pitcher on the cullens' baseball team. she runs fast, even for a vampire, and her compact size helps with the speed.
MOST LIKED FEATURE: Alice is pretty satisfied with her appearance. she loves her black hair and is often changing it, though it's always cut short. she also likes her size, which she finds aids her in daily life and as a vampire. MOST HATED FEATURE: the only thing Alice doesn't like are the dark circles under her eyes that characterize all vampires. they never seem to hide under foundation and she's worried they're too conspicuous. HERITAGE: used to be caucasian, of German descent ETHNICITY: vampiric
You’re not the only vampire I know.
GENERAL PERSONALITY: Alice is best described as effervescent. she's friendly, cheerful, and overenthusiastic, especially when it comes to anything remotely related to parties. just say the word party around Alice and her face will light up. you'll never hear the end of it. she tends to drive people nuts with her exotic ideas and energy level. usually, however, she's a good friend, though annoying, and manages to successfully get on anyone's good side.
however, she has a serious side of course. her strange ability to view subjective glances of the future adds to that. though she's able to "have a vision" on command, the most important ones come to her at unexpected moments. her eerie stillness while she's watching casts a tense air around the room. perhaps that's why she fell for Jasper, who's able to control the emotions of people around him. regardless, Alice is an excellent judge of the appropriate times to be serious, for example right before her brother begs the Volturi for a death sentence.
HOBBIES: having silent conversations with Edward and annoying the hell out of him, dressing up Bella, dressing up herself, throwing parties, cooking for humans, playing baseball DISLIKES: the Volturi, werewolves, red-eyed vampires, slow cars, confined spaces, stubborn people, ugly clothes LIKES: beautification processes, her yellow porsche, parties, hunting, mirrors, playing around with Bella, being an annoying dork FEARS: the Volturi's power, those annoying werewolves, being thirsty, James assembling himself, something happening to one of her clan SECRETS: the research she's done about her past, her worry about James, the fact that she's stolen far more cars than people think she has
We can’t all be freakishly strong.
GENERAL HISTORY: Alice doesn't really remember her human life. at all. however, being Alice, and thus being frequently bored, she's done research. she's discovered that even as a human, as Mary Alice Brandon, she had abnormal glimpses of the future. this defect drove her parents to put her in an insane asylum for the last few years of her human life. they then proceeded to announce her death, and apparently the date on her tombstone and the date on her asylum admissions form are the same. while at the asylum she was kept always in a dark cell, perhaps why she remembers so little. Alice was changed by a vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protect her from James, the tracker vampire who was hunting her. she and Bella are the only two people to ever escape James.
she is strangely grateful to the vampire who changed her, though she is unsure who he actually is. fortunately, her gift of seeing the future allowed her to successfully locate both Jasper and the Cullens. after meeting up with Jasper at last, she easily traveled to the Cullen's home in Forks. when she arrived, they were on a hunting trip, and were most surprised to find two vampires, one of them still rather young, had moved into their house and knew everything about them, but that's Alice's spontaneous style.
up until recently, her history with the Cullens had been rather uneventful. however, a certain human named Bella interfered. Alice didn't mind. but unfortunately, said human was a danger magnet. she's had to fight recently, which isn't something she's keen on doing. being fiercely protective, however, Alice is willing.
FAMILY: unknown human family except a deceased sister named Cynthia and a niece somewhere in Biloxi. and then there are the rest of the Cullens and her husband Jasper. bam.
Stupid, thieving, annoying vampire!
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: somethin' from the HP verse Fenris skimmed over the paper in his hand once more. It was crumpled, close to being torn, framed with pink and signed extravagantly at the bottom - not the sort of thing he was used to paying attention to. Actually, after that description, the thing sounded sort of like a love note, something some swoony girl, possibly under the influence of Amortentia, had spent hours perfecting only to have thrown away. But no, this was an official notice from the Ministry, almost begging him to join. Fenris wasn't particularly interested, but he really needed money, and Hogwarts was boring. Plus now, in this world, Hogwarts kids could work at the Ministry. Crazy, really, but worth taking advantage of.
He stepped into the elevator, which seemed to patiently wait for a response. Instead, he grunted at it, a sort of primal noise, which the elevator seemed to accept as it whizzed off, sending Fenris careening into on eof the walls. Elevators weren't supposed to go sideways. He sighed - really, after six years at Hogwarts, he should be used to methods of transportation going in odd directions. Point in case: the Hogwarts staircases, which were really kind of obnoxious. The elevators were strike one against this new job. Three strikes, and he could leave in peace. He really didn't need money that badly. Or at least, he tried to convince himself of that.
The elevator had decided to bring him to the Department for the Control of Magical Creatures, which Fenris found mildly amusing based on the way he'd summoned the location. He gave a sort of appreciative snort before the doors opened and he found himself face to face with Amanda Brocklehurst.
Fenris didn't know Amanda particularly well. They'd run into each other a few times at Hogwarts, as they were destined to do, and they'd died on the same day, which was only sort of weird. He was a Slytherin, she was a Ravenclaw; they didn't hate each other by default, but she was strange. Kind of a pessimist by nature, overly sarcastic, not at all like anyone would really expect a Ravenclaw to be but not really fitting in anywhere else, either. She was nowhere near sickeningly loyal, which was a plus, and she wasn't a Hufflepuff either - which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, of course, he had nothing against Hufflepuff. Fenris didn't think he'd have been able to stand her if she'd been in Slytherin with him - he'd gotten tired of her antics way too fast. But because he hadn't grown up with her, she had that aura of mystery, that distant realm of possibility that he was sure never would happen. Somehow, Amanda Brocklehurst did not deserve Fenris Sturm. This was a fat of life. But apparently, she had been waiting for him. Fenris assumed her mentor or boss or whatever had told her to wait for him, of course. There was no way she was doing this on her own free will, he reminded himself. Still, her voice seemed slightly awkward as she began speaking, ans she pointed out some strange landmarks, including the side table.
They wandered down a lit hallway, Amanda pointing out some of the doors, seeming particularly excited about a door that apparently what a Portkey to the hippogriff stables. Fenris had to admit that was pretty cool, a whole door as a permanent Portkey. And hippogriffs were neat. He remembered learning about them in Care of Magical Creatures with Hagrid, whom he also thought was pretty cool, unlike most of his House mates. Any guy who cared that much about animals and knew so much about any given subject was someone Fenris respected, and Hagrid was always great to his students. He was a good teacher, really.
The little tour finished and Fenris realized he hadn't really learned anything. The one door led to hippogriffs, and there was a table over there, and Hagrid was a good teacher. He groaned inwardly - this was not a good start to what he hoped could possibly become a great career at the Ministry. Not that he really wanted to work at the Ministry, per se, but he needed something. He was freindless, jobless, moneyless - this deal could possibly get him all three. But them it also had the potential to completely alienate him from his House mates, many of whom were destines to become Death Eaters or at least specialize in dark magic. Especially if he went for Magical Creatures - that was a pretty lame subject. Awesome, but stereotypically lame.
And there was no way he was going to tell Amanda Brocklehurst that. She was kind of pretty as she ran her fingers through her hair - she looked almost nervous, which was sort of weird. Fenris didn't really consider himself the sort of person that made other people nervous. He was just the introvert, the typical "misunderstood", except that a lot of people understood him. The trouble was, he was dead, and the rest of the Slytherin House he knew was alive. This Slytherin was different.
But anyways, Amanda was talking to him. Or Mandy. He remembered from some day way back that she liked to be called Mandy, and decided to stick with that. He honored people's wishes concerning what they liked to be called. No one called him James without facing certain death. She mentioned the Department of Mysteries, calling it "limited-access shit" which, for whatever reason, amused Fenris so much he smirked a little. And then apparently she was born down there, which was interesting, and she'd managed to get there before, and was he up for the challenge? Before he could agree, or say that maybe he didn't want to get in trouble and wasn't she a Ravenclaw and obsessed with the rules, she grabbed his hand and they were very much off.
The stairwell. He was going to ask her why they didn't just take the elevator, but then realized that it was probably pretty conspicuous and cursed himself for being a Slytherin and not figuring that out sooner. They flew down the stairs and he felt her hand slipping away, and then se ran out of his line of sight. It was dark down here,. Fenris liked the dark, but this was almost sort of creepy. She darted away from him, her hair flapping like a signal flare until she was gone. Damn. She was really fast, fast enough to play Quidditch or whatever, and he felt himself puffing along, feeling like an idiot, hoping he wasn't lost. He ran through a door that someone had left open, almost wheezing, and then he saw her and heaved a sigh of relief. Almost.
"Why the hell are we down here?" he whispered furiously, before regretting the words. A Slytherin who didn't like breaking the rules? It was like a stupid Ravenclaw. He realized he'd dropped the Ministry letter and internally cursed himself for being so careless. "I mean -" he began, wondering how to explain himself and then deciding it was pointless. He pointed towards another opening. "Is that the Prophecy Hall?" he whispered, wondering what sort of prophecies there would be if they were dead, which they were. Some sort of rebirth thing?
All around him was darkness, lit only by a couple of dim lanterns. He hadn't imagined the Department of Mysteries to be this - creepy. It was a part of the Ministry, after all, with offices and workers - Unspeakables or whatever they were called. How did they work down here? He kept silent, wondering if Mandy would chastise him for speaking, and crouched low against the floor, wondering if that was what she wanted him to do. Somehow it seemed appropriate. A dormitory in the dungeons got one used to darkness, but Fenris didn't think he'd ever been this far before, especially not with a girl, and especially not with Amanda Brocklehurst.
You… bit a pillow? Why?
