OOC / for Tami. angsty awesomeness and all. started running but there's nowhere to run to
Another one. Damn. It. Alice had decided she hated this one too, which was cool, because she hated Alice right back. Mutuality was always good, really - everyone always knew exactly where they stood. Sort of. Except this one was interesting. This wasn't like that white chest dude, whatever his name was - there was something up with her. Something more valuable, Alice figured - something that would have this new crimson completely immersed in the Cullens. And probably in a bad way. Except, there was an insane amount of fog - more than there had been for any of the others, which sparked Alice's curiosity in a very intense, annoying way. This kid knew something. Actually, she wasn't much of a kid - Alice's senior by about a century. Still she was a new arrival, and her eyes sparkled with a crimson warning. At least for now - and probably not ever - she was not to be trusted.
Trust. That was funny. Alice wasn't a huge fan of trusting anybody - really, the only people she had complete trust in were Carlisle and Jasper. So many people were willing to freely disperse their trust to any individual who begged for it. Alice was more wary. Trust wasn't worth losing, and it was horribly fragile. She figured too many people had put their trust in her and lost it already.
And through she never really trusted her visions, either, she figured this one, this strawberry blond crimson girl showing up in Port Angeles, was probably true, or at least close enough. it was nice, actually, walking on the street like a normal person, although everything, of course, smelled like food. Although there weren't many people here, not now - aside from the fact that she seemed to repel humans like one of those industrial magnets flipped backwards, Monday afternoons weren't a particularly active period for shoppers. And the new vampire wouldn't be hungry. She'd hunted just outside the Washington border. And of course, the Cullens had once again sent Alice to remind her of the rules, to warn her of the consequences - although right now, Alice didn't really mind. She seemed interesting. Her name was Tami, she'd picked that up already, but everything else was unclear. She was in Washington, and she was on the move, and somehow, she would end up in Port Angeles. So Alice waited, feeling more and more like a predator, a stalker, with each passing second.
She rested on a bench a few doors down from the Italian restaurant, which smelled like utter crap, and fingered the hem of her tunic top. Alice, actually, was quite thirsty now, her eyes darkened to a deep topaz, her pupils dilated. But this girl couldn't wait, and so thirsty or not, Alice sat there, eyeing the few random passerby, not recognizing very many, and steadily growing impatient and perhaps a little nervous.

Tami Feauto
Washington was a peculiar place, espically for a vampire who had seen everything since the beginning of time. She had seen, and basically lived the sinking of the TITANIC, she knew what happened to the Lost Colony of Roanoke, she knew why Henry the Eighth had beheaded Anne, she knew what dinosaurs really looked like. Nothing surprised her anymore. She had winessed the creation of the freaking Earth for gods sake! But Washington gave her a funny feeling. A feeling that she had not had since the Civil War was about to happen. Something big was in the cards. It just hadnt been played out yet.
So here she was in Port Angeles. She was, she already knew, being met by Alice whom she was watching, only fractions of a second behind what was really happening. She was thirsty and had decided she hated Tami already and figured the feeling was mutual. That would probably be the first - and last- thing they ever agreed on. Period.
Moving with grace through the streets she thought of the differences of their gifts. Alice saw what was to come. A useful gift, but also flawed. The future was not set in stone as the past was so in her mind Tami figured she had the upper hand on that level. Also Alice could miss something but Tami never had to. She could think of a date in the past and watch the whole day in a few secconds and get everything she wanted. And lastly Tami didnt have to wait for people to make their decisions. That was already done. So yeah, in her eyes she was better. Too bad she was jealous of Alice.
Reaching the point near where Alice was sitting she watched her new "friend" waiting. It was a weird sensation trying to see the past from Alices eyes. She had never tried to know the future and thought that no one should know what lay ahead, but it was utterly fascinating. Incredible actually. And disorienting. Kind of nauseating also. Deciding it was best to just go into this now and leave the future to the phsychic she trudged ahead.
Coming upon the tiny vampire she walked right up and sat down beside her on the bench. She glanced over and looked at the girl with the spikey hair. She was nothing special for a vampire and was far shorter than Tami's five foot six frame. But knowing what she had been through softened her feelings for this vampire a lot. Making sure to sit as far away as the bench allowed she spoke in a soft tone, her british accent standing out and amazingly she kept any malice out of her tone.
"Can we move, psychic? Itilian food smells awful."
Yeah, weird introduction. But she couldnt think about anything as she concentrated on not thinking of her gift. She knew that Alice would know she had a gift from thinking about not revealing her gift, but that little psychic didnt know what her gift was. And then it finally registered that she had called Alice a psychis out loud. Oops. Now she would know for sure that something was not normal about Tami. Too bad she had no intentions of sharing what her abnormality was.

OOC / yes, definitely in this thread. started running but there's nowhere to run to
She was tall. Tall people were interesting. Actually, height, in a weird way, seemed inversely related to intelligence, at least where vampires were concerned. For example, Alice herself was tiny, and Carlisle and Jasper were only about average, whereas Rose and Emmett were towers. Skyscrapers. Skyrapers. Seriously. And this girl seemed sort of below average, easily manipulated. From the second she walked into the vision until the second she walked past the bench, Alice was suspicious, but not paranoid. She watched the Tami in her mind carefully, less than a second ahead of what was really happening - a skill she'd really honed in the last few months, present-watching. It was difficult - she had to stay about half a second ahead, and if she lost concentration for that half a second, the vision slipped away and she had to grab it again. There was a lot of practicing involved - staying five or so minutes ahead was much easier. Oh, and she couldn't pause the scene - it all had to keep going. Alice had no rewind button - an often infuriating hindrance. Just play, fast-forward, and the occasional pause.
The Tami in the vision, a girl with long, strawberry blonde hair and bright red eyes, took a seat beside the Alice in the vision, and the real Alice allowed herself to return to the present as Tami Feauto stepped into view and sat beside her on the bench. Her first words confirmed Alice's initial suspicions. "Can we move, psychic? Itilian food smells awful."
"Psychic? That's funny. What's so bad about Italian?" she announced, shooting a menacing glare at Tami. "Keep it to yourself," she whispered furiously, "and it's pronounced Italian. But yeah, we can move. Fine." So whatever Tami could do, she was gifted, somehow, although Alice had already pretty much figured out that one. It wasn't even a hard puzzle, really. Of course she had something special going on, beside the whole vampiric thing - maybe her gift was to know others' gifts? But that wasn't all too extraordinary. Alice kept careful tabs on her movements in the next couple of minutes, pushing the visions further back while she focused on Tami's face and standing with one fluid movement. "Where to?"

Ignoring all comments coming from Alice she let her mind wander a bit.
The miniature vampire had caught on to the having a gift thing. Good for her. But that was not the worry at the moment. The worry at the moment was deciding where to go first. This would be like a little tour of one of the most fascinating... what word could she use as a substitute? Fascinating vision? No, too weird. Well whatever it was she wanted to see the dress shop where Bella had gone with Jessica and Angela, and maybe the little bookstore where she found the book on vampires... STOP! Way to much info for Spikey. Hehe! That would be the name for Alice, at least in Tami's head.
Standing in one fluid movement she caught herself at the last minute. She was too graceful to be a human so she needed to downplay it better. Looking around, thankful that no human saw anything she glanced, or glared, at the psychic sitting on the bench still and tapped her toe as though she had places to be. In actuality she wanted to be at the Cullen mansion, but that would have to wait. Deciding to not do any sightseeing for now and that she just wanted to move somewhere more private and better smelling she made up her mind to go to one of the back alleyways she had passed on the way here. Knowing that Spikey would have seen her descision she just walked off in that direction not really carring weather or not she followed. If she didnt Tami would just go and see Carlsile and talk directly to him. Or maybe Jasper...
Oh! That future might bugg the tiny vampire a bit. Going to see her husband! How much fun! His story, his history.... awww shit! Using that word made a hundred different futures possible. At one point there was the descision to tell Alice what was going on, or Carlsile, but she hid that in the back of her mind hoping that that would be missed by her "friend." Knowing that it was improbable though she stopped at the alley and waited for Alice to arrive and either have figured her out, or have missed the tiny detail that was Tami's gift.

OOC / totally cool. started running but there's nowhere to run to
Alice remained less than a second ahead of Tami, hoping to catch anything remotely interesting, losing her near-permanent hold on the Cullen home temporarily as every singe one of Tami's most minute intentions, little split-second decisions, were apparent. Those decisions were like whispers, clustered together and hard to discern - the larger decisions, like Tami's desire to explore the Cullen house - blared obnoxiously loud and clear, drowning out some of the smaller choices. Looking this lose, there were a thousand different paths, some dying as soon as they began the inching trek past the present. It was like a nervous system, really - tiny veins crossing each other, disappearing from view, some more loud, more central, more necessary than others, all of them forking and twisting and branching off. And only one of them would ever be known to anyone besides Alice. Fascinating.
Obviously, Tami wanted to move - she stalked off towards a back alley and Alice followed her instinctively, zooming out of the minute possibilities for a second to get the general gist of Tami's intentions. "My house? Fine, might as well - although you don't get to talk to Jasper without me there. Sorry for any inconvenience." Before she'd even spit out the words she was back, sifting through details, still with one foot rooted in the present. Lots of stupid little decisions - who looked more appetizing, which brick Tami would rather pull out to hurl at Alice's head, et cetera.
And then - looking, in the right place at the right time - tell her, see the past, look through history, gift - little words floating along and images of Tami speaking and then they were gone. Decision made. But Alice hadn't missed any of it. Pieces suddenly flew together - she knew of Alice's gift, she'd seen the Cullen house, she wanted to talk to Jasper - she was a walking, breathing, detailed history book.
Oh, shit.
"Oh, so you can see the past. Interesting." Alice attempted to sound relatively calm. "So you know absolutely everything about my family, about who we are and what we do, about this entire town, about pretty much the entire world, and you know more about me than I do." She paused. "You probably think I could ask you any question and you could answer it. Wrong. I know where you'll be in ten years. Where you're headed. I know exactly what you're going to do in the next five minutes. Don't think you're not evenly matched." Actually, this kid absolutely terrified Alice. She knew everything. Tami Feauto was the only person on earth who knew what Mary Brandon had looked like, had known, had done before somewhere in her late teens.
Which was horrifying, because as much as she knew how Tami could use all of that against her, Alice needed to know. All of it. Every detail. Maybe Edward could find out - but still. Alice wanted to hear it straight from Tami, and there was no way that was going to happen - it wasn't even a microscopic vein of possibility.

The only way to describe the way that the older vampire felt was like a child caught stealing candy out of a convienience store. Yeah, pretty pathetic. For a moment she was slightly embarassed at being found out so soon. She knew that if vampires were capable of blushing she would have been a shade of red that rivled her crimson eyes. But the thought of being found out, found out by someone who looked into the future, made the embarasment disappear into thin air.
Yeah, she knew everything about everyone. She knew what Alice had looked like as a child, as an infant, as a teen. She knew exactally how Alice had scuffed her knee for the first time, where it had happened and who had caused it. She knew the sad truth of Alice's parents and who had changed her. She had seen, from Alice's point of view, James tracking and hunting her down. She had seen Alice's transformation and who sacrificed themselves for her life. Tami knew everything. Too bad the tiny vampire would never find out anything. Not even possible. And then Alice said something that basically sealed their "friendship" and then threw it out the window.
"Oh, so you can see the past. Interesting. So you know absolutely everything about my family, about who we are and what we do, about this entire town, about pretty much the entire world, and you know more about me than I do.You probably think I could ask you any question and you could answer it. Wrong. I know where you'll be in ten years. Where you're headed. I know exactly what you're going to do in the next five minutes. Don't think you're not evenly matched."
"No, I dont believe we are evenly matched." The words were said sweetly, but so sweetly that they sounded menacing. "You see, I dont care where Ill be in five minutes, or what Im going to say. I dont care that you know where Ill be in ten years, which you dont, because I havnt made that descicion yet. I know all about your power. I know how to manipulate you and how to get around you vision. I could practically disappear from your little radar forever." She paused to smile here. "But Im not going to because I find your family fascinating. Espically Jasper. And the thing that makes me outshine you is that you do care. You want to know every little detail about your life. I Have The Upper Hand. Its because you care that you are weak, and no matter how you try to hide it I can always find out what you were feeling. I know everything that has ever happened. EVERYTHING!"
With that she just stopped talking. She was exahusted. Tami had never, I mean never, talked to anyone with that kind of force. Throughout that whole thing she had been remembering the way that all the greatest speakers of the world had spoken to their opposition. In this case Alice. But in her whole life she had never felt such loathing and such jealousy towards anyone. Then out of no where comes this tiny vampire and she makes everything crazy. Normally soft spoken and a bit timid, Tami sank down into a sitting position in the darkness of the alley and just looked at her companion, and for a moment she considered apologizing for her speech but decided not to voice her thoughts. The psychic would have seen enough from that little fragment to get the general gist of how Tami felt. Tired, confused, angry, jealous, and almost... sad.
Status: Done Word Count: 607 Notes: Kind of blah... she isnt normally like this, but Alice pissed her off. And she is jealous not because of Alice's gift, but of her family.

OOC / no, no, I like angst. keep it coming. just, you really ought to establish some limits to Tami's power. because right now she's like a freaking god. like, she really probably shouldn't be able to feel the emotions people felt in the past, and there could be some proximity thing - she can't mull over Alice unless she's like ten feet away or whatever. just saying. up to you, I guess. say your goodbyes if you've got someone you can say goodbye to
She saw the words before they came out of Tami's mouth, of course, but they still stung like crazy, stung worse than Alice was ever going to let Tami know. Except Tami was wrong. To completely remove herself from Alice's radar would require more mental strength than Carlisle, a vampire twice Tami's age and a million times her maturity and strength, was unable to do. It took practice to conceal oneself from Alice - it wasn't something anyone could just spontaneously do, and even if they were decent, she could still pick up flickers, little images, which she was free to draw up and mull over later. None of the Cullen family could hide themselves for more than five minutes - five minutes in which a lot could happen, perhaps, but five minutes was not a lifetime.
And Tami did care, more than she thought. And though Tami's path, like all the others, grew more distant, more shaded as time branched out into the future, the general idea was there. In ten years, Tami would still be a monster, a crimson-eyed bloodsucker. In ten years, she wouldn't be anywhere. She would remain a nomad, and her eyes wouldn't once shift to gold. This much was established.
"Except you do care," Alice snapped, allowing her voice to become cool and sharp. "Because you're stuck in a granite world. Nothing ever changes. I know your decisions before you make them. Everything you see is over. Done. Complete. But in my world, you have the opportunity to change. So maybe you enjoy being the little stalker, and maybe you're right, I want to know. But I'm not going to give you anything."
Alice considered Tami's next words. "Jasper and I are a package deal. And you don't have anything he wants, so don't think for a second you'll be able to tempt him." She paused, locking her eyes into Tami. "Maybe I don't know what I did when I was four. Maybe it would be interesting trivia. But it doesn't matter now. That's not my life anymore. I can see if you're going to threaten my family, and if you do, you, friend, are dead."
And then there was another possibility. "Don't apologize. Your friends don't need it and your enemies won't believe it." She didn't really remember exactly who she was quoting, but that was beside the point. Feeling slightly victorious, Alice leaned against the wall, never once taking her eyes off Tami.
Except she hadn't been telling the entire truth. It did matter. Everything mattered. Alice was angry at Tami for knowing, for concealing this, but more so, she was angry in general - angry at whatever parents she'd had, whatever had happened, whatever secrets there were in the darkness. It did amtter, because it had brought her here. Without a history, she was less than complete - there was a part of her that yearned to know what parents could have done that, was there any way to make it right today - or really, just what there was.

Tami Feauto
It was a frightening concept that someone could see where she would be in the next year. But it was also a very satisfying feeling that the upper hand still belonged to Tami, at least in her mind. She knew where she would be, or relatively speaking, for the next decade. She would be wherever the wind blew, and wherever their was interesting things to see. Her power was all that mattered to her and the only reason she was here in the first place was because of the interesting bonds that were formed by this way of life. That was her plan.
But plans change every once in a while, and if something, or someone, kept her somewhere for a while then she would be more than happy to stay there. Honestly she didnt want to see what was going to happen. She was perfectly happy being blind to what was to come. That was how it was supposed to be. People throughout history had been killed, banished, and humiliated by trying to control what was to come. No good ever came from it. Things were happening because they were supposed to happen that way. That was it. No psychics, no seers, no magic.
Then the little pixie quoted one of the best quotes, but got a few words wrong. "Um, the quote is 'Don't explain youself'. Not 'Don't apologize.'" She paused for a second, or less in reality, to see the speaker of that. "Quoted by Belgicia Howell." Yeah, that bit was just to get on her nerves. But what else was there to do? Right now she was bored to death and she knew that there would be no entertainment until they got to the mansion.
Then, something that should not have happened... well happened. A thin, adolencent boy walked right into the alley apparently surprised by the sight of two of the most beautiful women he would ever see practically snarling at each other. That was not out of the ordinary. It was the scent wafting off of him. It was not only the usual tempting smell, but that doubled... no, tripled! And at that moment she was abou to lunge for his throat. That was when her peculiar gift went off on its own accord.
All that she could see was other incidents that had happened over the coarse of history. Children, teens, adults, and even a baby being killed because of this pull. And then there was a flash of Edward and Bella and how he had resisted her and life had turned out right. Snapping back into reality Tami stopped breathing, turned, and ran through the other end of the alley and out into the trees surrounding Port Angeles. Once far enough away she picked up her pace from that of a sprinting human to that of a sprinting vampire and was a couple of miles away before she stopped and waited. If Alice followed then they would make their way back to the Cullens together. If not then she would find her own way there.
Status: Done Word Count: 509 Notes: Sorry for the godness. In the last post when she said she could go look at what she was feeling it meant that she could go back and take a look over her expressions. Not that she could actually feel the emotions like Jasper. And the history gets fuzzier and less detailed the farther away she gets. She can still see it, but it is better if she is closer. That is why she likes to go to the actual place it happened.
