No one knows who revealed the creatures of the night but one thing is for certain, every human in the world is now aware of their existence. The sudden news that the creatures that were thought to be just myth are actually alive has caused an uproar and vampires are realizing that they are suddenly the victims as their covers are blown. The once nice thoughts towards the Cullens have changed drastically over night and they now find themselves shunned from human society. Edward and Alice, still in their senior year, have been removed from Forks High School and all the colleges applied for have denied them. Yet they aren’t the only family members to be treated in such a way; Carlisle was also let go by the hospital despite the work and effort he put in as a doctor.
This new incident is just another bump in the road for Bella and Edward, who are still dealing with the fact that Victoria is out there and waiting for her revenge. Associating with the vampire family has put Bella in a difficult position as she finds the attitude of the towns people change towards her as well. The clumsy teen is caught in between a rock and a hard place as she does her best to help out Edward and his family while dealing with her own family.
Charlie, to put is simply, is less then pleased with the latest discovery. To him, Edward Cullen was already skating on thin ice due to previous events involving his daughter but the news that Edward is really a vampire is more than the single father can take. He forbids Bella to ever see Edward, no matter how much Bella argues with him over the matter. After hearing the news herself and worried for her daughter’s safety, Renee got on the earliest plane to Forks and booked a room in a local motel till everything calms down. Sadly, that doesn't appear to be happening any time soon.
With all their secrets left bare for the world to see, there is nothing to keep the vampires in line. The threat of the Volturi no longer stands, leaving some vampire to do as they please. Newborns are springing up again in the South as bloodthirsty vamps begin to battle over hunting grounds. Already the humans are noticing the growing numbers of missing people and panic has begun to build. Maria, who managed to escape the Volturi, joins in creating newborns only this time she plans to bring them to the North.
