Jane smiled at the hostess who led her to a table. It was music night after all. Jane placed a small order for the woman and looked about her absently. This was more tiring than it looked. The reflection in the window showed her dark red eyes glaring back at her. She stiffened and looked back away again. The woman kindly placed the water and fruit dish in front of her. Jane could truely care less what food it was, she wasn't here to eat it. She spotted a nice looking human male walking in alone. He looked about her age. She smiled and walked over to him in play. Her shy voice asked for him to dance with her. The boys parents thought it cute. They were on their way out and left the two alone, they were the fools.
Jane lead the boy through a simple dance and then back through into a small back closet. She quietly and quickly killed the boy, clering the evidence as best she could. She silently feigned indifference and moved back to her chair. It would be a while before they found the body. In a reflexive mood she drank a sip of the water and had to force herself not to spit it out again. The lady was watching her happily. For once being a child had it's perks. Jane pretended to eat the fruit s othe lady wouldn't bother her, discretely slipping it into her napkin instead. The music was decent, at least. She watched other human teens with amusment as they danced to it. It was better them than her, she decided. If only Aro would ask her....she wouldn't mind. She shut the thought down quickly, it would never happen. Reflectively she looked back at some newcomers coming in.....perhaps a new source of amusment.

The seventeen year old male was seated at a small table, with a young girl close to his age. Merely one of his friends from school, she was nothing more to him. More of an acquaintance really. Sure, the blonde with blue eyes was cute. It was a given. But he had offered to take her out since he was the one who accidentally ruined their experiment in chemistry that very morning. He felt bad since she had been upset about getting a D on it. So he offered to take her out as a apology. So there he was. He leaned back on the chair a bit making sure to be careful as not to fall on his butt. He unbuttoned the top button of his white cotton shirt. His eyes looked over to the girl, as she stared at him, with a questioningly look. Her fork in her mouth. The young shapeshifter smiled sheepishly, " Well, it's kind of hot in here don't ya think? " Seeing the girl swallow her food and giggle. He let out a sigh. He just wasn't that interested in this girl really. She didn't seem to get it though.
Suddenly the smell of blood filled his nose, and he looked around a bit startled. Of course he tell the different scents of blood, by his strong sense of smell. But with it being human something fishy was here. He knew he smelled a vampire in here earlier, but now it was more apparent. Honestly he didn't have a problem with vampires, unless they preyed on humans. That was fueling his anger. He clenched his fist, as his date watched his face with interest. His light blue eyes looked over to another girl who looked about twelve years old. She smelled like a vampire. Obviously it must have been here who had just killed someone. Watching her sit back down, his date sighed and dismissed herself since Jared wasn't really paying attention to her anyway. He looked at her and smiled, waving to her on her way out. He tried to shake it off, maybe his nose was just picking up the smell of the meat. He closed his eyes and sniffed, but there was no doubt about it. That was indeed the scent of human blood.
His eyes went back to the vampire, she probably already caught his scent. That wouldn't surprise him. He couldn't just walk up to her, and harass her about killing someone in that restaurant. One he'd look like a pedophile, and secondly it just wouldn't look good to be yelling at someone who looked like a child. He growled to himself and looked down at his uneaten steak. Basically stabbing his knife into the steak, he cut off a piece and placed it in his mouth. Chewing on it, to keep ahold of himself. He looked away from her. That girl had guts to kill someone when a shapeshifter was around, her had to give her props for that. But that didn't mean it didn't piss him off though.

Jane caught an odd scent. Her eyes roved around a low hiss emerged under her breath. She saw him sitting at a table with some useless human girl. She almost laughed, a shapeshifter....and by her regards not too bright. She looked about her and raised her glass of water innocently towards him. She drank a small sip willfully. He obviously knew by his look of hatred. And somehow, she really didn't care. Jane looked about her with a small smile, the glass returned to the table. The music picked up it's beat and she laughed as one guy made a fool of himself. Humans were really so entertaining. Even more by the fact that she had a reasonable amount of control over their pitiful lives. She stretched herself out and eyed the hostess....she was looking toward one of the dancers. The whole charade was just.....sad, really. She was thankful she never looked like that to Aro, she'd probably die first.
Jane turned her eyes back to the shapeshifter. With her power, she really had nothing to fear from him. A dark grin stretched across her face. If he tried anything he'd be the first to lose. As if in warning she sent a quick jolt of pain towards him, if it hit it would emanate from his right leg. She looked away to the dancers innocently. Illusion was always the best posion. She looked back to her drink and had the hostess clear her dishes. She smiled and drifted towards the dancers, her dress swayed as she danced. Some adults looked on with a smile, she was far beyond reproach.

His eyes glanced back towards the vampire. Blinking a few times, watching the vampire curiously as she willingly took a sip of the water. He shook his head and mumbled a few inaudible words to himself as he turned back to his steak cutting it into pieces. He reached for his glass of sparkling wine. Pressing the glass to his lips, he looked back at her only to see her looking at the others dancing. Seeing one male making a complete joke of himself, he blinked a few times. He let out a chuckle, and drank a little of the wine. It felt refreshing going down his throat. Even though this vampire had deliberately killed someone. He couldn't help the fact that she was interesting in nature. At least that's what he thought. A waiter came up asking him if he'd like a bottle of sparkling wine placed on the table for him. Jared calmly cleared hsi throat before saying, " Sure. Thank you. " He smiled showing off his pearly whites, as the waiter left him alone. The smile quickly faded as the smell of blood was still in the air.
He gulped down the sparkling wine, and finished the steak pushing the plate away. A hand brushed through his light brownish blonde hair, that smell was getting to the teen. None of the other shapeshifter's were around, so reacting right than would have been a bad choice and secondly he had a soft spot for women. He wiped his mouth with a napkin, throwing it down on the plate. The waiter had come back out placing the bottle upon his table. The boy nodded and mumbled a thank you as he looked back at the girl. The grin she gave gave him the creeps, as the small hairs on the back of his neck stood up. Suddenly a jolt of pain hit his leg, as he jumped a bit staring down at his right leg. What the hell? Did she do that? Jared thought to himself as he looked back up and watched her. Blinking, he shook his head and laughed. Playing innocent was she? He seemed to catch on she was from that. Despite her looks. He got up, revealing his light blue jeans, that fit him snugly. He stretched his arms, and blinked as he heard giggling. Looking over he saw a few women looking his way.
He pushed in his chair, and chuckled. It was about time he approached that vampire. Shoving his thumbs into his front pockets, he walked towards everyone else. The ones who were moving their bodies, and dancing to the music. As he moved through the people trying to get to her, a couple of girls around his age stopped him asking for a dance. He looked over them, letting out a small whine. He just wanted to talk to her, for one thing. He hadn't had too much contact with other vampires besides the Cullens. In all honesty, he didn't mind vampires. But he sighed softly, and gave in to these girls. Blinking as they both began dancing up on him. His eyes widened, as his nose caught the scent of their arousal towards him. This was something that made him gulp, as he moved back through the crowd backing up a bit, accidentally bumping into the vampire.

iJane was minding her own business when the smell hit, and the idiotic shapeshifter hit her. She stumbled and glowered darkly at him. Accidental or not, he really shouldn't be messing with her. Her blue eyes narrowed in distaste.
"Watch where your'e going jerk."
She moved away from him darkly. Partially because of the bubbling human girls he had attached to him. It was almost too much for her. She sighed and moved away, not knowing or caring about him. A foolish shapeshifter was no match for her, she was sure of that. She moved back towards the bar and took a seat, the bartender was off on break. She swivled on the bar stool, watching the dancers, and more specifically him. He really needed a reality check, and if he kept annoying her.....he'd find it for sure.
She sighed and looked away for a moment, staring at her reflection. Her simple childish light purple dress accentuated her paleness....and her innocence. Some lady stopped by and gave her a piece of candy and a pat on the head. She really wasn't thrilled and silently chucked it into the garbage can when the woman wasn't looking. Humans were so.....shallow apart from everything else besides. She went up to the band stand and requested her favorite classical song, one she'd heard played many times and the singer obliged her. It wasn't like he couldn't. She smiled at him warmly as the familair strings began. Some people looked a little confused but, others moved into the waltz with ease. This was real music, not just the garbage that these humans thought passed for it.
She stood and began the familair dance alone. Sometimes resorting to ballet steps, and othertimes just moving elegantly. None of it bothered her. The floating dresses brought about a sense of nostalgia to her, she was at least semi-pleasant now.

Jared blink as she spoke and opened his mouth to say something to her. He shook his head, sighing softly. He shoved one hand into his pocket, and brushed one hand through his hair. He felt a hand upon his shoulder, one of the two females that was trying to dance with him was behind him. His shoulders tensed up, as he shoved the other hand into his other pocket and moved away quickly. He couldn't believe the way those girls were acting. To degrade themselves like that, for a guy like him? What the hell was wrong with some women nowadays? This question plagued his mind. Yet he leaned up against a wall sighing, watching the people around him dance. Maybe approaching that vampire was a bad idea. Something told him he shouldn't stay to far away from her. Like he couldn't quite grasp why, he just curious about her. Seeing an actual non-veggie vampire was quite rare for him. The two girls approached him again and he let out a low growl in his throat and said disdainfully, " Look I'm not looking for fun or anything. I'm not in the mood. Nothing you do or say will change my mind. " He caught both of their eyes, his own eyes full of serious-ness.
The girls rolled their eyes mumbling about how much of a jerk he was. With his inhuman hearing, his ears picked this up but he didn't care too much. Since he'd probably never see them again. He let out a huff and immediately crossed his arms. His own eyes rolling. What a piar of stupid whores. Normally he didn't think that way, unless they seriously annoyed him. His light blue orbs closed, as his thoughts began swirling about in his head. Thinking about many things, like the pack, that vampire, the girls, school and everything. Especially being a shapeshifter. His ears picked up a low man's voice speaking about the vampire. He knew it was about her, just by the way he described her innocent looks. Though something snapped inside of him when he heard what was coming from that male's mouth. His eyes flicked open in fury, as his fists clenched, as well as his teeth. Damn pedophile. Even if she was centuries old, it still pissed him off. Suddenly he heard classical music, and he blinked softly. His eyes gazed back to the girl. He blinked a few times as his anger subsided just for that very moment. Well, she has quite the taste in music. Interesting. He thought to himself.
Until he heard that man speak up again, a loud growl rumbled from his throat making the man stare at him. Seeing the look of anger in the teenager's eyes, the man gulped closing his mouth. It took everything in Jared's body not to lose control and become a wolf. He was losing all patience for that guy. If he said one more word about her, he'd probably beat the hell out of him. This urge surprised even him as he mumbled moving away from the man just so he wouldn't. His eyes looked over at the vampiress again. He blinked and couldn't help but stare at how graceful she moved, how perfect each movement seemed to be. Wow. Vampires are really flawless aren't they? His thoughts even drifted to her. What he was feeling wasn't something like attraction. No it was far from that. He was curious about her in a sibling like way. His ears picked up that man's voice again. He moved near the vampire trying to forget the things that idiot was saying.
He cleared his throat, as he said, " You know. I think we got off on the wrong foot... " He rubbed the back of his neck with his right hand, and smiled sheepishly, " Maybe you don't care to know but.. I'm Jared Reed. " He would have extended his hand to her, but she was dancing so that probably would have been a bit odd for him to do. He wondered what her reaction would be. To shock him again? He shivered at the thought, it didn't scare him. That shock to the leg, wasn't the greatest earlier. Even for a shapeshifter.

Jane sighed as the familair routine made her happy. This was what she was pleased with. The dancers around her moved gracefully, mostly adults, so there was no foolishness. Jane paused for a second when she heard the all too familair voice of the guy she met. As she spun she caught sight of him telling his girls off. She smiled at their complaints, maybe he had some smarts, which said a lot for a shapeshifter. Humans were only good for accessiories. She noticed his dark look towards one guy near the back but, continued her dance. She really shouldn't care so much as she did. The only way she would care is if he tried to fight her. He had been lucky enough to see her in as good a mood as she got. If he came up to her again though......
And sure enough she soon found out the truth of her thoughts. He moved near her and introduced himself as Jared. She paused smoothly. The fact that he seemed to follow her around was rather amusing. It was almost sad too. Jane was growing irritated however. He didn't know who she was, and what he had to fear. She looked around and noted no one was watching her. With a small cold smile she looked him over. He really did need a reality check. Going after a vampire in any condition was a major no-no. She held her emotions in check, though she really wanted to lunge. She couldn't hear. How foolish of him to think she cared, really....it was almost....human. The thought sent a shiver up her spine.
"Look, Jared. I really don't know why you care about me but, if you have any intellect left in your obviously thick skull, then you'll back off. After all, I'm Jane Rossi, of the Volturi Guard. A name I'll make sure you don't forget if you don't back off, okay?"
Jane moved away from him sharply. She was looking for her next victim. He had upset her enough that she felt the need to do so. She spotted a foolish ten year old boy and got him to follow her into the closet too. He met his fate and Jane cheerfully came back out in time for the waltz, her bright eyes glowing radiantly. As long as she didn't have to put up with any more problems, she might be able to salvage her night.
After the dance she moved back to a empty table. A polka began and Jane wasn't particularly fond of those. She sighed and noted the same guy Jared had been talking to approach her. She iddn't pay attention to his words, him compliments, what she did care about was his grabbing her arm. He pulled her off her chair and she grumbled darkly. He wasn't hurting her, just getting her more and more agitated. When he tried to pull her closer to him she smircked darkly. She didn't care if the humans saw, the Volturi had a clean-up crew for that. Somehow, she didn't mind the bloodshed.
Jane pulled away hard and looked at him darkly. His eyes were stunned in shock as she grinned, baring her fangs at him. He pulled back suddenly, a look of fear struck his face. Jane leaned towards him, her hands free. She picked him up by the shirt collar and threw him threw the window. Glass shattered as the male landed on the other side, hurt but not dead. Jane cursed her luck as he got up. She noted the odd quiet that seemed to prevail as more than one pair of eyes found her. She sighed. A waste of a amusment indeed. She pulled out a cell phone from a small purse she kept at the table, in hushed tones she spoke quickly before hanging up. The clean-up crew would arrive shortly. The humans had no need to panic. She shrugged and watched as the guy walked back into the restaurant. It really didn't matter now. In a matter of minutes his life would be over one way or another. She stepped outside after giving a wave to Jared, too bad he had to die so soon. He was actually kind of fun to be amused by.
