Two deer and one wolf later, and Kate was satisfied for a few days. She had already planned to overfill herself regularly so she could be sure she could mix in with the humans. She realized she didn't look as young as the Cullen kids, so she probably couldn't attend Forks High, but she imagined she might be able to snag a little job or something to keep her busy in the small town. Kate also didn't want to stay with the Cullens and not be able to offer some sort of payment for her staying there.
Kate had already sent the message along through the family by speaking with Alice, but Kate didn't want to just impose on the Cullens without formally asking Esme and Carlisle. She fidgeted with her messenger bag as she made the short run from the forest to their home. She started up the walk to their front door, admiring Esme's garden with a smile. She ran one hand through her messy curls and walked up the steps, knocking on the door once she reached it.
After waiting a moment, and assuming that Edward and Alice had alerted the family to her presence, she walked into the front room of the house, glancing around. She smiled at how pristinely clean everything was, pulling her bag over her head and setting it on the table by the door. "Carlisle? Esme? Anyone of the lovely Cullens that I like to call family?" She smiled as she rolled up and down on her feet once. She hummed very softly as she waited, looking at the paintings hanging on the walls.

its kinda like an upscale bed & breakfast
Esme was sat in the study; blue prints surrounded her as she drew away. She was designing a cottage home for Bella and Edward. Over joyed by the news of the wedding she had been working on their wedding present all week. She wanted it to be just right. The perfect house for the two. Of course as soon as Alice saw what she was doing, Alice had her own ideas about the house and Esme had to allow room for a large walk in wardrobe. It rather ruined what she had first planned to do, but Esme was quite sure she could fit it in without ruining the picturesque cottage she planned to have Emmett and Jasper build.
Esme looked up from the plans as she heard someone enter the house, "Carlisle? Esme? Anyone of the lovely Cullens that I like to call family?" she recognised the voice to be Kates. An old family friend, she smiled and stood up moving with quick speed to the top of the stairs. The family always welcomed members of the Denali Coven, and Esme was pleased to see Kate in their home.
She quickly adjusted her white frilled blouse and black skirt in the mirror before descending the stairs to greet Kate. “Hello Kate!” she said brightly crossing the room to shake her hand, “Its wonderful to see you again” Esme pushed her long caramel coloured locks from her face and beamed at Kate.
Alice had informed the Cullen’s that Kate would be visiting them and Esme was delighted to hear that she would be staying with them. Esme had spent the morning making up a room and placing fresh flowers in the room, Alice of course had stocked the wardrobe with clothes. “How have you been?” Esme asked cheerfully.

Kate could smell Esme's presence before she had seen or heard her at the top of the stairs. She looked up as Esme said her name out of instinct, smiling widely. "Esme, it's been too long," she replied as she shook her hand. She bit her tongue hard as she focused on not electrifying her dear friend. Oh, she envied the Cullens for so many reasons. To have a lovely being such as Esme to look out for them as their mother figure. It was visits to Forks that made Kate miss Sasha all the more.
She took in all the warmth Esme gave off, as she released her hand. "It's wonderful to see you as well," she said with a nod, tasting the blood in her mouth that resulted from how long she had been biting her tongue. She reached up to run fingers through her blonde curls; an old habit of her's that had stuck around. She felt so much more human than vampire most days. Kate was glad that she had run into Alice before making her way to talk to her. She had hoped either Edward or Alice would know of her visit prior to her arrival. Kate would have sent a letter or something, but she had never been particularly good at all those formalities.
"I've been well, overall," she said, glancing around the room a moment. She brought her gaze back to Esme. A positive a person as Kate was, Esme's cheeriness never ceased to trump her's. It almost made her smirk to meet a happier person than herself. "I just needed a change of scenery, really." She slid her hands into the back pockets of her jeans. "I hope I wouldn't be imposing to ask if I might be able to stay with you for a little while? If I decide to stay here more permanently, I may get a place of my own. I've yet to think that far ahead, however."
