After Edward and Bella's wedding, Kate wasted no time in returning to her home in Denali, Alaska. It had been her home for such a long time since her sisters had become vegetarians, that she did not even think of changing. But over the years, Alaska had become... lonely. Don't misunderstand, Denali was a beautiful place. But Kate just needed to be around others again. Not secluded in the small community in the upper left corner of the Unites States.
So it was time to move to Forks, Washington. Other than her own coven, she only knew the Cullens to be practicing vegetarians. Forks was a happy medium. There were more people to interact with, and she would be able to keep her thirst controlled if she had allies looking out for her. She packed a bag of necessary items, figuring with Alice around her wardrobe could quickly be refurbished, and set off on a nice run. Running to Washington was faster and less expensive than a car, plane, or train.
A smile worked its way onto her lips as she reached the outskirts of the woods that enveloped the town of Forks. It, too, was a beautiful place. The Cullens were wise to choose it as their home. She slowed to a walking pace in order to take a breath. She rubbed her hands on her arms a momen, feeling the little electrical sparks buzzing on her skin. She slid her bag off of her shoulder, setting it down by a tree. She looked around, taking a deep breath in of all the animal scents in the immediate vicinity. "Hmm," she mused, "perhaps it's time for a snack."

OOC / btw, Kate and Alice are total besties. dances late at night when he thinks that he's alone
"KAZAKOOOH - VA!"
Actually, it was really more like a cowabunga type war cry. Alice ran top speed from her position concealed in the forest, sprang up at the last moment and landed squarely on the shoulders of her best friend. If a typical human would have done this, it probably would have resulted in broken shoulders and tears. But, being annoyingly sparkly - and thus quite durable - Alice and Kate merely toppled over each other. Which was fine. Because they were just that awesome.
Alice stepped back and took a few moments to scrutinize Kate's outfit - fine, but plain, a simple v-neck and jeans. "So you came without suitcases of apparel. Just how I like it. We're gonna have funnn." She rolled her eyes and launched into a long tirade of babble. "Once we take care of Jane the Pain, that is, of course. You know she's over here? Right? Yeah. She's here. Being quite annoying, as expected, but sort of weird - going on about Aro and how she was forced to come over here. We found her watching soap operas in our living room. Weird, right? Totally. I mean, soap operas? Jane? Exactly my point. What the hell. So yeah, she's wandering around the evergreens somewhere, I don't really even know anymore - oh, yeah I do, she's just past the La Push boundaries now - don't worry, she won't get into any trouble or anything, not today at least, I still haven't really figured out what she's up to. Ugh. It's so annoying. Anyways, how's life in Denali? Anything super exciting?" Jazz hands and an accompanying grin. Okay, not the jazz hands, but still. Of that level.
"Oh yeah, and we haven't had a serious storm in like ever. No baseball. And we won't have a baseball-worthy storm for at least another month - sucks, right? Because you make a mean shortstop. Which is good, because normally we aren't cool enough to have a shortstop. And normally I don't have anyone to talk to except for bimbo blonde and klutz-o and Jazz and freaky mind reader guy and Emmett but that usually ends up in us hurling mud at each other - long story - so I'm probably going to babble you right back to Denali but I don't really care because now I can actually talk to someone." Normal people would have had to take a breath or something here, but Alice wasn't normal. Still, she allowed Kate a chance to get on her feet - literally - and maybe bite in a reply.

OOC: Havin' them be besties is entirely okay in my book. xD Okay, so perhaps the snack would have to wait. Just as Kate was beginning to zero in on the scent of a nearby deer, she caught wind of Alice. Which wasn't even necessary once she heard the war cry. A smirk was on her face in a flash, and she started to turn around as Alice toppled onto her. The pair crashed to the ground and Kate let out a loud laugh. "Oh, Alice, I've missed you," she giggled out, setting a hand over her forehead for a moment. She watched her friend stand, and pushed herself up to sit with her hands. She smiled as Alice looked over her simple ensemble. "This was done on purpose, dearest. I knew you'd want to help me do some shopping." She blinked once as Alice began to ramble out in a fashion that seemed a bit endless.
Tilting her head to one side as she listened, Kate furrowed her eyebrows. Jane was here? A wave of irritation hit her full force. Jane and Alec were young teens when they were turned into vampires, yet because of their strong powers, Aro allowed them to live. But a vampire child and its sire who could have been completely innocent? Surely, there was all the reason in the world for Aro to murder them. Yes, Kate was still bitter over what had happened. She was never all that fond of the Volturi anyway.
She tuned back into Alice's monologue, hearing her ask about Denali. "Oh, well, Alaska's... no different than the last time you visited," she rolled her eyes a little, heaving a sigh. "Boring, and too small. So no. Nothing exciting." All at once, Alice was speaking again. Had it been this long since she'd had a proper friend to hang out with? Kate was glad she arrived when she did. Clearly Alice was a tad lonely, too. "Oh honey, I plan to be around to zap those Cullen boys into shape. I will definitely be your next shortstop," she said with a wink. She stood up, brushing off her shirt and pants a little from falling down. "And you could never babble me back to that place, never you worry." She patted Alice shoulder, stepping beside her to grab up her bag. "I was hoping I might be able to bunk at your place until I get my own place elsewhere. If Carlisle and Esme didn't mind, of course."

OOC / good, cuz that's how it works. ^^ omg, this is crazy short. headache. and I hate playing conversations, I can't think up anything. dances late at night when he thinks that he's alone
Kate seemed happy enough, rather pleasantly enduring the barrage of Alice-babble. But something was up. This was more than just a casual shopping visit - she didn't need her sixth sense to figure that one out, and there was something about Kate that wasn't casual enough. Maybe it was the news that Jane was loose, wreaking havoc or whatever, which was unsettling - but no, Kate wasn't one to just randomly turn up on the Olympic peninsula. She wasn't that spontaneous, and Alice had first seen her coming over a week ago. Unlike Jane, which was also unsettling. Hmm.
But this. "And you could never babble me back to that place, never you worry." Alice stared at her quizzically as she grabbed her bag. A couple moments of silence passed, before she finally decided to shatter it. "Kate, what happened?" She paused before adding, "I mean, I'm sure Esme and Carlisle will be fine with you staying at home, we have a zillion extra rooms - or you could share mine, but it's like ninety percent closet. You know."

OOC -- ish okay, dear. I'm finally done with exams for the semester. Yayy summer. Sorry I've been MIA for a day or so. ^_^; And this is sorta short as well.. sorry. Kate adored Alice and all of her babbles. Did she really have to have a reason to come visit her extended family? Even if she was not rejoining society because she was lonely, she may have still wanted to come visit Forks. It was a lovely, superbly green and mountainous area. The game was different, and it carried a higher population. Kate could not complain about the area much at all. And while Kate was talking herself up in her head, Alice was already onto her: "Kate, what happened?" She gave a meek smile to her friend, shrugging. She glanced away after a moment, shoulders heaving with her sigh.
"I can't keep any secrets from you, dear friend." She looked up to her again, "I'm just terribly lonely, to be quite honest. It's time I involve myself in a larger community than little ol' Denali." She immediately felt silly for allowing a feeling to pull her away from her home. She crossed her arms over her chest, inhaling unnecessarily. She smiled a little when Alice brought the conversation back to staying at the Cullen's humble abode. Or, well, not-so-humble.
"Well, I'll go home with you and ask Esme myself.. I wouldn't want to impose, though." She let out a laugh at her follow up comment: "You could share mine, but it's like ninety percent closet." She let her hands fall back to her sides, far more comfortable with a conversation that did not involve verbalizing her feelings. "Oh Alice, I wouldn't expect any less of you."

OOC / coolio. dances late at night when he thinks that he's alone
Kate definitely seemed less happy - more mature? perhaps? meh, - then she was when the Cullens had head up to Denali for a visit a couple of months ago. That seemed like ages ago - now there were weird vampires roaming all over Forks, some friendly - okay, Kate was really the only friendly one she could think of at this point - most of them not so much. And even the ones she knew were acting strange - forget about the newcomers. Why was Forks so attractive? It was a dinky, rainy city. Whoopee. If turning yourself around was really what it was all about, Forks wasn't the place to be - everyone here seemed to get stuck in the omnipresent mud, always moving the same direction, never changing. Except maybe for the vamp newbies. Huh.
And then Kate gave one of those stereotypical movie-type sighs, of course away from Alice's face, which made Alice sincerely worried. Kate wasn't a stereotypical person - she was just Kate, and she was almost always happy, and she was damn pretty, and she lived in Denali. Those were the facts of life. Buyt now, she definitely wasn't in Alaska, she didn't seem particularly happy, and even her face seemed more lined, her hair less radiant, her skin faded.
She said something about being lonely in Alaska, that she wanted to involve herself in a large community, which made Alice laugh despite the situation. "Larger community - so you come to Forks, the Washington Podunk. Brilliant. Although I think the vampire population is expanding. I think we're up to ten, although that will change tomorrow." She stopped there, not really willing to go further, and Kate wondered aloud if it would be rude not to ask Esme. Alice shrugged. "Ask her, of course, but I know she'll say yes. I don't need psychic-ness. But, I have it, so I know even more thoroughly. The room two doors down from mine has a nice view."
Alice figured they weren't going to get very far if they didn't start moving, and gestured grandly in the general direction of the Cullen house. As she started running, she looked back and regarded Kate once more. Hmm. "You sure you're okay?" she asked casually.

OOC: I figure shortly this thread can lead to the one I started with Kate/Esme at the Cullen's humble abode. =) You're welcome to follow me there. Overall, Kate couldn't complain. She had led a long, happy life with her adopted sisters within her coven. She could shop all she wanted, hunt whatever game she wanted, and flirt with all the boys throughout the years. She was still fairly happy; she just wanted a love more permanent than all of the flings she had while playing succubus with Tanya throughout the years. Irina was the wise one, even though she was the youngest. She knew that hopping from lover to lover was something that was fun, but not fully satisfying.
Coming to Forks was more of a stepping stone in Kate's mind. She would come here to acclimate to living with humans more regularly. The Cullens were so well adapted, and Kate needed the practice. Once she felt more secure that she wouldn't lose control in the close presence of humans, then it would be time for her to move onto a place that suited her well. A more permanent home. If her sisters wanted to visit, or move with her, they would be more than welcome. She waved Alice off as she made the comment about coming to Forks.
"Oh, well, you know how I mean. This community is at least more bustling. I need to get used to being in close proximity to humans." She raised an eyebrow as Alice mentioned the population expanding again. "Who else is coming to Forks? Perhaps it's unwise for so many of us to remain in the same place." She smiled as she mentioned that Esme wouldn't mind her staying. "I'm sure that the room will be lovely. Everything in your house is so stunning." She shrugged a moment, "But I shall ask out of courtesy." She watched Alice turn on her heel to start the run back to the Cullen's home, and followed suit without missing a beat. When Alice glanced back and questioned Kate again, she smiled at her friend. It was so nice that she cared enough to keep prodding. "I will be okay, Alice. You of anyone should know that. But thank you ever-so for caring."
